President & CEO   John A. Torkelson has a long-term history of founding, building and operating successful software and systems companies and within each, leading the creation and deployment of major, new market category-defining products.  As EVP/CTO, he founded Shared Financial Systems which then became S2 Systems, a Stratus Computer subsidiary that he managed as COO reporting to the parent.   SFS became an industry leader in online transaction processing systems for retail banking, creditcard and payments.   He led SFS’s initiatives into international markets, ultimately deploying financial transaction systems in over 60 countries.  In addition, he led significant market expansions from banking/finance into retail, pharmacy and healthcare.   John served as SFS’s lead customer executive serving major financial customers including Citibank, American Express and MasterCard.  He founded, and was CEO of Systems Research Corporation.   SRC created major software technology products for several Dallas-area companies serving retail banking and finance.  These products included BancTec’s check and payment processing systems up through its IPO, and the first full online retail-banking platform based on Tandem, for Banking Systems/GEISCO.   John also was a founder of Descriptive Systems Corporation where he led research and development efforts that culminated in several of the earliest patents and products for image processing of checks and payments.  DSC was later merged into BancTec, Inc. as a significant part in its IPO.  More recently, at BancTec, he was VP in charge of all software product lines and professional services responsible for over 500 professionals, and previously, VP and General Manager responsible for the Plexus Software Division, working in Silicon Valley for 3+ years where he led a transformation of imaging and workflow products to support the Internet with growth more than doubling the company.  John also recently served as President & CEO of Computhink, a Chicago-based supplier of imaging and document management software.  He graduated from the University of Houston with a BSME degree, is a graduate of the AeA/Stanford Executive Institute, been a registered professional engineer(Texas) and has held multiple systems and software patents.
